I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one. My mother passed away after her battle with lung cancer. She was transported home from the hospital the second week of May and was placed on Hospice. I was by her bedside for the entire time and she peacefully passed away at home on
15 June 12. I purchsed this book at the Women Who Win Conference in April 2012 at the suggestion of a friend, thank God for discernment. God already knew what I was going to face and had began to prepare me for the future. After the conference in April I flew home to Maryland on Saturday and headed to New Jersey on Sunday.
During this whole process I have learned that we all grieve differently. I am the second oldest of four siblings, 1 older brother and two younger sisters. I am the strong one, who has to keep it together for the entire family, now that mom is gone. I am much like the Bishop, I had my few minutes of crying, alone and then I got busy tending to everyone else. My mother had suffered so much since she was diagnosed in 2008. Operations, Chemo, etc, etc, she couldn't take much more. Her desire was to go home and spend her last days with her family. I am happy to have had the opportunity to serve and be there for my mother, to make her last days as happy as I could. To make a long story short I finally started reading this book on 16 July 2012, now I understand how I am grieving and how my siblings are grieving. We all grieve in different ways, and there is no time limit on how long you are allowed to grieve, but we have to remember that life goes on. We have to remember our loved one and think how would they want us to live our lives. My mother would certainly want us to continue living life and remembering the good times we all had together. All I can say is THANK YOU to Bishop Rosie O'Neal, because now I do UNDERSTAND.
