The Halloween Close Call A Kiki Lowenstein ScrapNCraft Mystery Series Short Story #10 eBook Joanna Campbell Slan

Halloween Close Call (a Kiki Lowenstein Novella) (Kiki Lowenstein Series) by Joanna Campbell Slan is the first book I have read in this series. I really didn't know what to expect and I was so pleasantly surprised by the wit of the author to use such imagination to be able to turn a paper craft store owner who was so wrapped up in planning a crop around Halloween that her friends finally talk her into going to the farm for some fun into such a mystery.

The story is not that long but is priced fairly and it is easy to read plus if you are into any of the paper crafts you would understand it more and appreciate the events that take place all the more since you will be able to relate to it. Once more, any book that tells you that they ate this or made that and at the end of the story you're given some of the recipes and directions on how to make what they were making is definitely one step above average.

I also like how one book leads right into the next. This book leads right into Killer Paper Cut which picks right up where this leaves off. Speaking of leaving off, that was one great mystery ending!

The only thing I can say that remotely can be taken as a negative is that I am unclear which book is first in the series. I wish they were numbered clearly. It may have said inside and I missed it but even so, I read this book and it is a complete stand alone book and I didn't feel I was missing anything. Now there is good writing for you! The only reason it bothers me now is because I know I missed books and this one was so good I want to read them all.

I recommend this book to all paper crafters who enjoy a relaxing, easy read with a great mystery.

The Halloween Close Call A Kiki Lowenstein ScrapNCraft Mystery Series Short Story #10 eBook Joanna Campbell Slan Reviews

I knew this was a short story but I was not prepared for the very abrupt ending.
More time was spent describing characters than outlining and following through with the plot.
It was a bit of a let down getting to the end.
This book is told from Kiki perspective and is about a Halloween party sponsored by the store, as usual a murder is involved and Kiki is in the middle of it. It is another great Kiki short story!
Another good novella where we get to spend a spooky Halloween with Kiki and her friends. The author is so good at describing everything, I felt as if I were there with Kiki in the hay wagon and in the maze.

This story ended with a bit of a cliff hanger! I am guessing the next book will answer the mystery.

I recommend this book to those looking for a fun and exciting Halloween read!
This was such a fun and quick read! I love all the Kiki books and have read them since the series started. In this novella, Kiki, who is so brave in the face of real danger, proves to be a bit of a chicken when it comes to Halloween fun! Her friends agree to tone it down since Kiki is 7 months pregnant, and enjoy Halloween family style. Kiki still manages to get bitten by the Halloween spirit!
Pumpkins and Kiki Lowenstein...love it. Another novella from Joanna Campbell Slan featuring the crew from TINA B (Time in a Bottle Scrapbooking store) If you haven't made the acquaintance of kiki and her crew yet, I urge you to do so. Always interesting mysteries with quirky characters and lots of fun along the way. Not to mention craft ideas and recipes too! I warn you though, Kiki is like potato chips....one is not enough!
A cute, little romp into Halloween spooky fun with a sad spice of someone or something killing family pets, farm animals, and the over-populated deer that are getting too close to the city of St. Louis. The gruesome question How are the animals drained of all their blood and why is there no blood at the scene? When a human (it wouldn't be right to let-the-cat-out-of-the-bag) has a "close call" it leaves the characters and readers alike wondering about things that go bump in the night!
I'm always waiting for the next read in the Kiki Lowenstein series, so I downloaded and started reading this one as soon as it was available. As always, it was an entertaining visit with Kiki and her friends. I loved that it was longer and more complex than the last few shorts, but the ending left me a little puzzled. It was a different sort of twist than I'm used to in these books. Now I'm wondering if the story carries over into Killer Paper Cut, the next full length book in the series.
