Two short stories; the first in horror author Chad Lutzke's Double Feature Collection series

This is a nice two story sampling of Chad's work, a capable writer whose talents I had known previously from several anthologies. These two stories are short, but both have sharp endings, the kind of twist and punch I like in a short story. My only complaint is they are too short, they are flash fiction for sure. I would have preferred a flash fiction story followed by a longer standard short story to really get a feel for his work. These stories are too short to leave much of a lasting impression. However, I was entertained enough to warrant another try at a 2 story combo in the future. Just hoping there's more to read in the next two-fer I purchase.Product details

2 good stories. Not horrible or outstanding. Just a couple of decent stories. I do like the notes at the end of each. I'm always curious how and why these stories came about. Yep, I'd recommend this author.
Fantastic stories. The first took us into the mind of a psychological killer and the second into the mind of a suicidal vampire. The writer masterfully crafted the voice of the characters so well you could almost feel what they were experiencing.
These two stories from Chad are excellent but if you're expecting a lot of action, you're in the wrong place and I'd suggest you pick up a different Chad Lutzke title.
These two stories feature two very different monsters. While they may be different, they are both facing serious inner conflict. It's great to see how such legendary characters think and act, with a Chad Lutzke twist that is. I would recommend this book for anyone looking to delve into the darkest areas of two of the darkest minds.
Two superb horror tales, one of Jack the Ripper contemplating his 'studies' of the human anatomy and a vampire seeking solace after having lived the life of a heliophobic for too long. Well-written, creepy tales I thought stood out from the usual spatter fests. Leave you with one final passage I really enjoyed, "The brilliance of a light I had not seen in centuries took my breath away..."
Chad takes us to a quick place with these two short stories. In the first one we see a one page decision being made from a different point of view. I especially took to the second story,Self Immolation. I found the desire of the weary old soul to be done with the nightly battles to b e a new idea. Take the few minutes out of your day a give this a read. I know you will be intrigued by Mr. Lutzke's new take here.
I just finished reading this two-story horror anthology by Chad Lutzke and wanted to jot down my thoughts on my introduction to Chads work.
From The Damned Thing
"Am I feeding science? Or a demon of murderous lust? If I begin, will I be able to stop?"
These are my favorite lines in the first story. In this and his second story Chads haunting yet very poetic prose exemplifies his strong grasp of character and his ability to 'humanize', as it were, individuals and ideas in history that have always been perceived as innately inhuman. To see Jack the Ripper portrayed as a human individual held captive by his own perverted, murderous lusts drives home the fact that he could be anyone, at any time - a human person who has given in to his own ideology of evil.
While I certainly enjoyed this first story I believe Chads skills really shine forth in the second tale, Self-Immolation. Again, we see something that has historically been perceived as inhuman exhibit distinctively human traits and characteristics such as guilt, shame, remorse, etc.
From Self-Immolation
"Mankind could destroy itself without me. Today the undying would die."
Simple and direct, the above lines describe an inhuman entity with a dark sense of humor.
I very much enjoyed Chads work and am looking forward to reading more.
Two Before Dawn is a double shot of horror from the mind of Chad Lutzke.
That Damn Thing, to me, seemed short. I feel that this story could benefit from a rewrite to include more. I understand what the author is doing here, but I feel if the story was longer, that length would really benefit it. I'm my opinion, the story almost distracts from the real prize here.
The real draw of this duo is the second story, Self-Immolation. It is about a vampire who wants to end his immortal existence by witnessing the sunrise one last time. The real beauty, the poetry, of this story is in the notes afterwards. These notes bring to light what his story is really about, a tribute to the author's father. After reading these notes, the emotive meaning soaks through the story and this story blooms like the flower it truly is.
